Aric’s Birthday Weekend 2011

Aric wanted to take a flight lesson for his birthday.  We drove to a private club and took a tour.  He couldn’t go up on his birthday because of weather.  But, he did get to go a few weeks later.  He is still thinking about getting his pilot’s license, even though he gets air sick.  His instructor told him that he got really sick the first time too, but does not any more…we will see if he decides to go up again sometime.  It takes a lot of time and money, so he is still not sure if he wants to do it. Oh well, at least I got some pics!

Sunday after church, we had family over for games, food, cake, and ice cream.  The guys had an epic battle of Heroscape while the rest of us played Kinect games.

Notice the cake full of candles?  Yeah, I give my old man a hard time!  He is six months older than me.  So, on his birthday he becomes my old man until my birthday when I turn the same age!  I put 36 candles on that puppy! Hehehe!

my first attempt at making artisan bread 4-4-11

I came across a super easy recipe for making really yummy artisan bread!  So, I mixed the four ingredients together and let it rise.  A few hours later I was able to bake this beautiful loaf!

Recipe:

7 1/2 C Flour

1 1/2 T Yeast

1 T Salt

3 3/4 C Lukewarm Water

Mix in bowl. Let sit loosely covered on counter for 2 hours. Shape into loaf. Let rise 40 minutes. 475 for 35 min. Cool on wire rack.

I made this loaf and had 1/2 of the dough left.  I made homemade pizzas for dinner!  Very yummy crust!

Emma gets a package 3-30-11

Emma was getting a little jealous of everyone else in the house receiving packages.  Aric ordered her a surprise from Amazon.  Here she is opening it.
